I’m a sucker for a French accent.  There is something about a guy with a French accent that I find incredibly alluring.  If they calmly told me the greatest obscenities in a confident, collected, slightly flirtatious way, I would not understand but believe that every word they have uttered is a thing of beauty, I would find myself instantly smitten.

Do you think that we romanticize French culture?  I adore French perfume, French Films, French movies, French Fashion.  There is something seductive and intriguing about it.  I associate French culture with words such as Style, Sophistication, Elegance, Artistic, Classic, Beautiful etc…Yet I do not live in France on a daily basis so this could be furthest from the truth.

I haven’t been to Paris recently.  I have when I was much younger.  I have heard of friends who associate Paris as being not all it’s cracked up to be - contradicting the idealized notion of Paris in the media.  I have heard people say that they don’t like France, that it is dirty, and the people are rude.  While I have heard people who have been to France in the country - and said that away from city-life the people there are quite welcoming and friendly.  Although I’m sure everyone will have their own individual experience of what it is like to live in or visit France.

This tendency to romanticize cultures or aspects of life - is this a good thing?
